The Montreal Canadiens couldn’t have received worse news. Canadiens’ supporters are in a dilemma after learning that goaltender Carey Price is hinting at retirement. He and his wife, Angela, have sold their Montreal home and relocated to British Columbia.
The sudden decision of the goaltender has worried fans as they expected to see more action from the NHL star. Carey Price’s knee ailment limited him to only five games for the Montreal Canadiens the year before. Though he might have physically recovered from the injury, the question remains about his career in the upcoming NHL seasons.
NHL fans left in a dilemma
The City News on YouTube, reports that the athlete and his wife recently sold their Montreal house and relocated to British Columbia in order to be closer to their families. Fans were quick to take to the comment section to talk about the change.
A nostalgic fan expressed how much the NHL world loves Price, saying, “This is so unfortunate for him and the game. One of the rare players that is loved in every rink he walks into. I’ll always remember his performances in World Junior and the absolute spectacle he put on for his Olympic gold. What an incredible human being on so many levels.”
Another fan talked about how sad he was that he won’t be seeing Price lifting up a Stanley Cup, saying, “One of the worst tragedies is Carey never getting a Stanly Cup with the Montreal Canadiens. If there ever was a team to do it with, it would be them.”
One viewer got emotional over the fact that Price’s retirement is around the corner. They said, “I’m gonna miss the guy. He was such a brilliant player when he was healthy.”
One fan backed the goalie’s decision, saying, “Sometimes being home is the best medicine that no amount of doctors can provide …. physical or mental.”
Here are some more comments from fans reacting to Price’s move –
“Thank You Carey, for the all Amazing years that u have given us as a Hab, u were one of my favorite Habs along side all the great Habs of the 70’s.I will miss u as a Hab but I am also happy for u.Good Luck and enjoy yr time with yr beautiful family.”
“The one player I wanted to see win a cup. Not a Habs fan. But Price is awesome.”
“Don’t forget people… he’s always had a house here in Kelowna BC (where I live). In fact, the company i work for used to deliver packages to his house. The driver told me his house sits at the end of a long road that winds through a few orchards.”
“If he doesn’t get into the hall of fame it’s a joke.”
