The 2023 WM Phoenix Open is progressing at the TPC Scottsdale. It is 6th event the PGA Tour has been conducting this year and the first to have so many big names playing in the field. With more than 30 of the Top 50 golfers on the OWGR standings present at the course, the competition is expected to be higher. Hence, making the cutline is tougher compared to the other Tour events.
With $20 million purse money and many more OWGR points to grab, the Phoenix Open puts added pressure on the players, making it more interesting for the fans.
What will be the cut line at the 2023 WM Phoenix Open?
Although the TPC Scottsdale is a people-friendly course, it is not a golfer-friendly one. Extreme wind and other weather conditions pose many threats to the players. On top of that, the monstrous course and its 16th hole drag hundreds of thousands of people to the event, making it more stressful for the players.
Hence, even though the defending champion Scottie Scheffler and world no. 1 Rory McIlroy are present at the TPC Scottsdale, there is no certainty on who would make the cutline.
According to datagolf.com, the top three cutline predictions after the first two rounds are one-under-par with a probability of 0.2%, even par with a 76.5% probability, and one-over-par with a probability of 23.3%.
The fan-favorite players who have a chance of playing on the weekend this time
So far, the players are having a tough time competing at the Phoenix-based golf course. Due to extreme weather conditions, the tournament officials even had to suspend the game many times, making it not pleasing for the fans either.
The first round of the WM Phoenix Open was suspended due to darkness at 6:07 p.m. MT. Players who have not finished their rounds will resume Friday at 7:45 a.m.

While some fan favorites are grasping at the straw to make the cut after the first 36 holes, many lived up to expectations. Having most players completed their holes in the second round, fan favorites, Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, and Max Homa, along with the defending champion, have most probably earned their tickets to this weekend’s game.
On the other hand, it seems difficult to make the cut for the likes of Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay.
