The American professional golfer Justin Thomas may not have won an event since his victory at the Southern Hills. He may have won only two tournaments in the last two seasons. However, he still got the game to be in contention to win in another event, and he proved it with his incredible short game at the 2022 Hero World Challenge.

Thomas had the T7 position when he produced one of the best moments in the tournament, which the legendary golfer Tiger Woods hosts every year, this week. His magnificent hole-out eagle in the third round led him to jump four ranks to secure the T3 place in the Albany Golf Club field.

In the video shared by the PGA Tour on Twitter, the viewers can see the 29-year-old trying to aim the green from the nearby bunker. However, Thomas’ chipping not only helped him find the green, it resulted in a hole-out eagle.

Although Thomas found his way up to the top three places on the leaderboard with his eagle putt, he couldn’t hold the position for a long time. After finishing round 4 at the Albany Golf Club, he could only finish fifth by scoring an overall 10-under.

Has Justin Thomas ever won a Hero World Challenge title?

Justin Thomas turned professional in 2013 and started playing on the PGA Tour in 2015. He has won 15 Tour events, including 2 majors, 2 PLAYERS Championships, and 2 World Golf Championship titles.

Nonetheless, JT has never won the Hero Worl Challenge. Notably, his good friend for a long time, Jordan Spieth, won the title once in 2015. Meanwhile, the 2022 PGA Championship winner has never even gotten second place in the tournament.

And this time, too, the 29-year-old couldn’t win his first-ever Hero World Challenge title and a trophy from Tiger Woods himself.

Who won the event at Albany golf club this week?

After winning the 2021 Hero World Challenge against Scottie Scheffler with a one-shot lead, the Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland repeated the history at the Albany golf club. However, he improved himself and won successfully defended the title with a 2-shot lead over Scheffler.

Although JT scored a 10-under par overall score from all rounds and played well, it was nothing compared to the incredible 16-under of Hovland’s.

Thomas may have lost his chance to win the title at Albany this week. However, his perfect chipping in round 3 proved that he still plays incredible golf.
