What is so fascinating about flashbacks? That everyone wants to go back to that precise time and place. Teleported to reality, you long for that event to happen again in your lifetime. The fight to grab the Welterweight title had Floyd Mayweather facing Manny Pacquiao on 2nd May 2015. Grandly called the Fight of the Century or the Battle for Greatness, the contest proved a dampener, with both the gladiators resorting to a defense-oriented approach. Can a rematch make amends for a fight fought seven years ago?

Twenty-four-year-old Ryan Garcia will probably face his greatest career battle next year on 15th April. The conversations on the fight are neatly decked across platforms and mediums. With either of the camps balking at coming off second-best, newsrooms are having a field day as both Garcia and Davis appear regularly in interviews, discussions, and informal chat sessions.

KingRy was in an august company. Manny Pacquiao and DK Yoo, the Korean martial artist against whom The PacMan will stage a return on 11th December, joined him in an interview. So, naturally, the hosts fielded the obvious question.

Any chance of a sequel?

Quizzing Pacquiao on his comeback fight, they were keen to know his preparations. Manny, with calm confidence, spoke in detail about his thoughts on the exhibition and further explained why boxers need to take the trade seriously.

Soon, ‘the’ question landed on Ryan’s lap, “Ryan, what’s your take on a potential rematch with Floyd and Manny?”

Probably floating on air by this time, Floyd and Manny trading jabs at each other, KingRy could barely hide the delight at the mere thought of the prospect gave. Affirming his backing for the rematch, he wished it to be a full twelve-round match instead of a snubbed exhibition.

Manny wasn’t spared from the million-dollar question either, “Manny, you have been quite adamant about saying about a potential rematch with Floyd Mayweather. You’ve been talking about it getting some more traction in the media. Do you still want that rematch against Floyd Mayweather at some point very soon?”

An observant Manny could clearly explain what he felt about the rematch to the panel. Pre-apprehension swarmed out of his mouth when he said that perhaps Floyd was afraid of a rematch with him! Manny always thought that he could beat Mayweather any time of the day.

Well, I can definitely do better!

Ahead of the king-sized contest, Ryan, probably taking a cue from his foe, will proceed with an interim fight on the 21st or 28th of January against Filipino Mercito Gesta. Then, some seven days after, Gervonta takes on Hector Luis for a title defense.

Floyd Mayweather was thirty-eight years old, and Manny was thirty-six when they met for the first time. Yet, both had already secured a place on the greatest list. Moneywise, the fight, till-date, remains the highest-grosser. But the legacy has remained unblemished for both. Now retired, boxing is perhaps more of a pastime than a serious business.

But ask any boxing lover, and he will kill even for an exhibition to see two of the greatest boxers of our time together.
