The former number 1 pick will play as an option behind the injured Matthew Stafford. The Panthers put him on the waiver on Monday and the Rams instantly swooped him on Tuesday. LA Rams have a game on Thursday. Therefore, this raises the question: will Mayfield play against the Las Vegas Raiders?
Many thought that Carolina had removed the veteran QB from their squad. However, the decision was mutual as the QB asked the team for his release. He had been a part of seven unsatisfactory games. Thus, the waiver, although surprising, was not shocking.

The Rams are also in a deplorable state as they sit at 3-9 and are fourth in NFC West. The head coach of the Rams, Sean McVay, did not speak about Mayfield to the reporters, although his talents made him interesting. Both the coordinators of the team only had good things to say about the former Panther.
Before he went to the Rams, talks around him joining the San Francisco 49ers were all in rage. Now, he will try to help and salvage the injury-stricken roster of LA. They lost six straight games. A very sad thing for a team who was a defending Super Bowl champion.
Baker Mayfield and his new team cannot let this chance go!
This season saw a sudden downfall for Mayfield and the Rams. His new team cannot let go of the chance to make it right. They will have to send their first-round pick to Detroit. Also, they need a stable shot-caller. Their star QB, Matthew Stafford, is down with an injury. Thus, will probably not play for the remaining season. Backup QBs Perkins and Wolford have had little luck in starting the last four games.
However, it’s not clear how much Baker Mayfield can do to help his team. He had a difficult time with the Panthers. He bagged the job of the starting QB in the off-season. But his backups at Carolina outplayed him in 1-5 games he played.
