It’s almost Gameweek 16 of the 2022 NFL season and Odell Beckham Jr. still remains a free agent in the league. The much sought-after wide receiver has been out of competition this season after having torn his ACL in last year’s Superbowl with the LA Rams. Odell Beckham Jr. has since then been a hot pursuit for many teams, aiming to capitalize on his free agency. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, too, had been very optimistic about securing his signature until a recent update.
Odell Beckham Jr. visited the Dallas facility recently, aiming to sign with the Cowboys. However, citing the delay in his recovery, reports suggested that was the end of the romance between Jones and OBJ. However, multiple reports later showcased Jones’ continued optimism in securing this coveted move for the Cowboys.
The never-ending saga continues
After the rollercoaster procedure of landing Odell Beckham Jr. a contract in the NFL, Jerry Jones has had just one take on the superstar wide receiver. Even though OBJ got in trouble with an airline, Jerry Jones remained unbothered.

All he cared about was his talent because he knew what an addition he could be to the Cowboys’ roster. Jerry Jones has kept his Cowboys’ front office busy towards the end of the season. This has been all in hopes of having a competitive squad for the postseason.
The Cowboys have been solid all year long. With wins in double digits, the Cowboys have a record of 10-4 for the year. An already formidable squad in itself would have been a class apart, with the likes of OBJ joining the party.

However, the latest update from Jerry Jones shows that this romance might finally come to an end. In his recent appearance on air, Jones showed signs of his love story coming to an end before it really kicked off.
With time being the key factor in this, he seemed quite pessimistic about his ideal situation. “That time is moving on down the road relative to playing in the playoffs, so every day diminishes our chances of going forward,” said Jones. With just three games to go before the regular season ends, roping in the superstar might not be the most economical transaction either. However, Jones has secured some other players in the last few weeks. He was probably always unsure of OBJ’s timelines of returning.

At this point, OBJ is most likely to sign for a team in the coming season. While this will frustrate him, it might also work out for him better.
