Roger Federer delays his much-awaited comeback at the Laver Cup
The Swiss superstar, Federer revealed in August last year that he had undergone a third knee operation as a result of suffering a fourth injury during the grass-court season. But, there are rumours that he might not make it to the Laver’s cup this year as he is not fully recovered from the injury and his fans have to wait a little longer to see their legend play in full form.
As per sources, he might be present in the match but if the rumors are accurate, it wouldn’t be a good idea to compete. According to Laver Cup rules, they need to play at least one singles and one doubles to keep their name in the tournament. Roger was the first member chosen for Team Europe and he would be devastated to have been left out. He was supposed to take part alongside the Big-3 in the Laver cup.
What lead to Federer comeback rumors?
The 40-year-old was forced to quit from the 2021 Wimbledon Championships due to an injury after falling to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals. The Swiss had knee surgery and avoided the courts to ensure a thorough recovery. He was scheduled to compete at the US Open this year but wasn’t healthy enough to make a comeback there.

While Federer puts his best effort forward to train to the highest level, his fans are hopeful that he returns in one of the strongest ways possible. In addition to playing tennis in September at the Laver Cup, he will return to the circuit in October at the Basel Open, where he will attempt to win his 11th championship.
