In New Hampshire's Republican primary, Karoline Leavitt prevails.

In a statement he issued, Mowers vowed to "never give up fighting" for families in the middle class.

The most recent University of New Hampshire poll, which found that roughly a fourth of voters were still unsure only two weeks before the election, created uncertainty even though Mowers had a slim lead against Leavitt in polls prior to the primary.

The two candidates ran on similar themes, positioning themselves as ardent conservatives and outsiders in politics while also touting their time spent serving in the Trump administration.

They disagree on the outcome of the 2020 election since Mowers hasn't specifically addressed the former president's false claim that he won, but Leavitt freely proclaimed it.

Trump did not support a candidate in the primary election, but congressional Republican leaders had mixed feelings about the contest.

The two highest-ranking House Republicans, Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, endorsed Mowers. Third-placed Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York supported Leavitt, who had previously worked as her congressional spokeswoman.

Leavitt and Stefanik share a bond that dates back to Stefanik's remarkable first term in government as the youngest woman ever elected to the House of Representatives in 2014.

In an interview with NPR earlier this summer, Leavitt said, "[Stefanik] was one of the few individuals, really, in Washington that believed in me to do this."

She continued, "I know Elise got that same rejection when she wanted to run, so she genuinely believed in me and thought I had what it required.

Even while younger voters tend to support Democratic candidates, Leavitt touted her youth as a strength during her campaign, saying that they need to hear from more conservative perspectives.

"We live in a very biased culture, Leavitt said to NPR. How do we break out of this pattern? In order to reach these voters and provide them a platform on the national stage where they can see ideas, programs, and values that they aren't hearing elsewhere, it is important to elect young individuals to public office."

However, in this campaign, Leavitt is about a decade younger than Mowers, who at 33 would undoubtedly be considered a younger member of Congress, bringing generational divides into the political foreground.

Less than a month before to Leavitt's victory, Democratic challenger Maxwell Frost made political history by being the first person of Generation Z to win a congressional primary.
