UFC 279 was one of the craziest cards even before it started, and the main event was as chaotic as anybody could have wanted. Two veteran warriors – Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson – left everything inside the Octagon as they put on an instant classic.
Nate Diaz became the first athlete to submit Tony Ferguson inside the Octagon.
The Stockton star had a tough outing against a seasoned Ferguson. However, after a back-and-forth contest, Diaz submitted Ferguson to get his hand raised in his potential last UFC bout.
The judges’ scorecard was not needed in the contest as Diaz surprised the fight fans as he tapped ‘El Cucuy’.
Nate Diaz gave plans after UFC in Octagon interview
Nate Diaz announced his future move in the post-fight Octagon interview with Joe Rogan.
“I love the UFC,” Diaz said to veteran UFC commentator. The Stockton superstar also thanked UFC President Dana White and the promotion after the ‘longest’ UFC run.

Boxing, kickboxing, jiujitsu, or other MMA promotions – Diaz kept the doors open for everything in combat sports moving forward. But with his comment that Conor McGregor (who boxed Floyd Mayweather) did it, perhaps he hinted at a future in boxing.
“I’ll be watching,” Joe Rogan appreciated the little Diaz brother.
