The PEDs scandal was the worst thing that happened to Alex Rodriguez. Despite winning everything in baseball, the former Yankees slugger is not in the same company as his Yankee teammate Derek Jeter.
Though A-Rod knew he made the mistake of using PEDs, he decided to fight against Major League Baseball and even his then-current franchise, the Pinstripes.
Not many people know this. When A-Rod hired a law firm to fight MLB, he reportedly did not pay their bills. And what was more surprising was that A-Rod let the firm sue him on purpose for owing their money.
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports CEO secretly advised Alex Rodriguez to let the firm sue
Per NY Daily News, when Alex Rodriguez made his comeback after PEDs suspension, a law firm that counseled him during his fight against MLB, sued him for owing $380,058. Notably, since A-Rod confessed his fault to the Drug Enforcement Agency, he reportedly did not pay the bills to the law firm.
Meanwhile, it is still a mystery why Jay-Z’s company CEO Desiree Perez would advise him not to pay the bills.
“Mr. Rodriguez admitted that his advisers at Roc Nation, including Desiree Perez, instructed him ‘not to pay the invoices, and to make Gordon & Rees sue’ him,” the lawsuit said.
A-Rod’s career was a complete mess after the PEDs suspension. Even though he made a comeback after a year of suspension, the Yankees star was not the same. And since he had also tried to dirty the Yankees; The esteemed Pinstripes organization reportedly forced him to retire from the game. Notably, when A-Rod retired, he still had two years left in his contract.
But making any scene, Alex Rodriguez bid farewell to the game of baseball in 2016.
