He said, “Isn’t Larson like this alien where he’s the guy that can take off a month and jump right back in one and be the fastest guy there.”
“He’s kind of like you [Tony Stewart] were in your prime, AJ Foyt, and Mario Andretti—a guy that can jump in anything and then jumped into a Cup car and won Daytona 500. And AJ Foyt could be competitive after not driving a cup car for six months.

“On the other end of the spectrum, Larson, I know he races a lot but there are times when he has to take a break and get away from it.
“Goes right back to it, goes right back to winning.
“I know this is common knowledge but you’re smart enough to know a little bit more than we do. When you’re watching him race, he’s special,” said Junior.
Tony Stewart calls Larson a diamond in the rough
Stewart agreed with Dale Jr’s assessment of Larson and praised his ability to adapt to different types of racing and his innate talent behind the wheel. He said, “The funny thing about that kid is it’s like you just pick him up, you put him in a car, go play nice with the other kids.
“You just send him off, you don’t have to tell him anything, you just send him off and let him drive and he figures that out. He can take a couple weeks off and it doesn’t faze him. But you gotta remember in the weeks before that, he’s running three nights a week, four nights a week somewhere. So he can take small breaks.
“But when you’re trying to run against guys like that, what he does is going from late models to sprint cars and then getting in the Cup car and how good he is at all of them. You don’t find guys like that anymore, he’s a diamond in the rough for sure.”
Stewart’s comments highlight Larson’s work ethic and dedication to his craft. While some drivers may struggle to adapt to different types of racing, Larson seems to thrive on the challenge.
